Jeffrey's Bay and Other Thoughts and Snaps.

So basically just been relaxing since arriving here.Due to all the warnings and advice I can't just go wandering and exploring towns as I'd like. I guess it's one of the drawbacks of traveling alone in South Africa....basically crime central. It s pretty annoying, not that its been shit but it would've been good to see some rawer parts of the town. There definitely seems to be serious tensions here, maybe I'm noticing it more because it's my first time here but in a supposed, now, developed country there isn't freedom. With rules of where you can and can't go, what you can and can't do it's hard to completely relax and find out what it's all really about. You can tour the townships but it's just voyuerism, getting a 'sneaky look at the other side'. I'd really like to feel safe talking to locals and seeing the other side of what is a beautiful country. Not to say everyone I've met hasn't been super friendly but there seems to be something missing. I definitely don't fancy getting mugged but I would like to see more outside of the tourist trail. I wonder if it ever will sort itself out with this much paranoia around, there's security patrols and electric fences everywhere!
Most of these shots are from over the whole trip and then a few at the end from Jeffrey's Bay.

Booze and beaches.

So after doing the Cape Peninsula I left town for Stellenbosch do get involved with some wine. Its a decent enough place, very picturesque, but was pretty much a well-off white kids college town. All good though. The wine tour was ace..it was me, a women from San Francisco, a drunk guy (as in he was drunk before we started the tour at 11am) from Transval, SA and four old nurses from Sweden, one of whom was a right dick.Wouldnt shut up.ah well. had loads of wine in four different vineyards, had a cheese tasting and a lunch. By the time we got back to the lodge I was pretty toasted. It was then that i met Tim and Stacey...back to them in a bit.
Went out with a girl, Diana, who I met in Cape Town through MJ and got munted for the second time that day, was good until we hit the student bar and immediately slipped hard.right bunch of pumped up dry outs. all in all a good night though.
So the next morning me and Tim got in the car and drove to Mossel Bay. Tim's a guy from Switzerland who seems to have been traveling for ever. Great guy loads of stories and we seemed to get on pretty well from the off. So after a 3 1/2hr drive we got to Mossel Bay and checked into the lodge we were staying which was a converted train on the beach. literally sleeping in a cabin, was pretty random. not the best of places but a little different from the usual. From there we went into town to meet Stacey who also headed there.....and seeing as it was a quiet beach town we started drinking again.....and carried on for the rest of the night (hence there being hardly any pics from this place).Stacey is from Vancouver, Canada and chats alot of breeze, funny...but full on.good person to meet though.did some some issues with wind though.Anyways, ended up in this bar called Trawlers which is basically some backwards locals place.Everyone seemed decent but they were all mashed. This completely pumped guy, who looked like he was one of those wankers from that show Jersey Shore, was dancing around the place, giving it all that...apparently he was in charge of entertainment! Later he told me he was a rasta....whatever mate, just cos you've smoked a joint doesn't mean you've found Jah. Then he got a guitar out and started singing tunes...truly awful. At some point in the proceedings they found out I played music and made me play a tune.I knocked out a William Elliott Whitmore tune (must've been battered cos I've never sung in front of people in my life)...dont think the Jersey Shore guy got it cos it wasnt Jack Johnson. Some old guy who was barely bigger than your standard midget started body popping and breakdancing as well, was actually pretty good.Well weird though.
By this we was battered, so got back to the train, smoked one up on the beach and passed out. Felt like arse this morning and drove to Jefferys Bay, dropping off Tim on the way. No idea what happened to Stacey.
Good spot this, right in dunes on the beach, gonna get my relax on before flying back to Jo'burg on Friday morn.I think me and my sister Heidi are gonna go on horse back safari, should be next level.
So these pics go from Cape Point on Saturday until yesterday in Mossel Bay .

Baboons,Penguins,An Ostrich and Me.

I took a trip down to Cape Point yesterday and I ran into some baboons, penguins and an ostrich who just happened to be hanging out at the time. There's also a cheeky snap of me ripping off the cover to 'The Promise'...except I've got a shit car and I'm not The Boss. I've got other pics to sort through and will put them up soon.
